I have been contemplating constructing a Steampunk decorative light since I saw some on Steampunk websites. I have plans for much more elaborate lights with rheostats, red warning lights and multiple switches. Here is my first prototype light. I used an oak card file box and some porcelain fixtures that I bought in a box of electrical stuff at an auction. The tube like bulbs are used in desk lamps and display cabinets, but offer an old time tube type look.
I think that I will stain the box a dark color and fill the gouges that using the wrong hole bit caused. What do you think? Am I on to something that someone else would want to decorate with?

Why didn't you use one of your old porcelain turn switches?
Because the old switch does not fit.
Well Mr. Flannery, my daddy used to say there is someone some where who will buy anything (it's usually me)
Have to admit I'm not wild about this Steam Punk thing which probably means it's a real money maker :))
Oh my gosh...
I will send you all pieces immediately so I can have an original "Mr. Flannery" light in my house.
That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool!!! You can light up my life with one.
;-D robelyn
Oh, I like it alot and I believe it will sell. Very anthropology-ish I think.
What a great lamp, and oh so industrial.
Thank you for coming to my party.

WOW....LOVE your lights....Would it be possible to set it up with a dimmer switch & strobe....You could get down & funky as WELL as junk then....hahahahaha....!!
THANKS for sharing them with all of us....!
Cheers from Oz,
Tamarah :o)
I love it! This looks like a good project for my 19 yr. old Son, who is always dreaming up a more "mechanical" way of doing everything. It would fit right in with my Steampunk Library decor.
Mr. Flannery,
I love your look!! I too will send my junk to have your lightin' lighting my life!
smiles, alice
