Locker Dancing

Last week I sold two locker units to Kris and Mike before I loaded them into Gypsy Lea's. Mike incorporated his unit into his small workshop. However, the unit Kris wanted was too large for the space available in her house. Mike called me today to see if I wanted the unit back. I did. I went to their house and decided to paint the unit there without further locker dancing.

Mike and Kris discussing the design for a custom made fireplace mantle.

The returned locker unit. It is from a bowling alley so the lockers are large enough for a bowling bowl and shoes.

Another BEFORE photo. In front of Mike's little shop.

I painted the lockers with the same spray that I used on the home made ladder. I taped off the numbers and started spraying. Mike was so disgusted with my spraying style that he took over and painted it for me. (Do you remember Tom Sawyer painting a fence?) It is now a beautiful red and will be transported to Gypsy Lea's tomorrow. (AFTER photos tomorrow). I then went to Gypsy's to take some more photos and to price a tote of smalls that I forgot to price.

I Love the Digital Camera

I love my digital camera. About a year ago I bought a Sony A100 SLR camera. It was on close-out at Walmart because it had been supplanted by an even more exciting camera model. I put a 1 gig compact flash card in it and was ready to go. I determined that I had enough memory to discharge the battery before the flash card will be filled. Now I can shoot and shoot and shoot. I take the camera with me, take fabulous photos, transfer the photos to the computer and am ready to shoot again. I can shoot photos, edit the photos and post them on my blog in the matter of hours. I love the costs, the speed and am in awe of the technology.

I grew up in the Kodak generation. Photos were slow and costly to develop. I probably still have some undeveloped film from the 70's that I never got to the drug store for processing. I remember my tech savey uncle having an early Polaroid camera. The grainy, slightly out of focus and out of color prints were ready in only a few minutes. The film was so expensive and the quality so poor that my Dad was sure that his goofy brother was only wasting his money.

Every time I shoot 40-50 photos, knowing that some will not turn out, I remember the costs and hassles from an earlier time. I really appreciate my digital camera. Now I just need to learn more about my editing program.

Hunting Junk and Hunting Deer

Deer hunting season opened this weekend here on the tundra. The weather was definitely not tundra-like, high of 63* on Saturday and 58* on Sunday. I was awoken this morning by the sound of gunshots. The cats couldn't care less. Babe was interested and enthused by the sounds. He has never hunted, but I guess that response is bred into a Labrador. On the way to Gypsy Lea's later, there was a 12 point buck on a trailer next to the 4 wheeler. They got their trophy by 10 AM. I don't hunt animals, but appreciate anything to thin the herd. It seems that Ford is the only natural enemy of deer that remains, and that is a very expensive way to harvest the excess. I have often said that junkin's much like hunting, the shooting is great but I could do without the cleaning and cooking.

We spent most of the day setting things at Gypsy Lea's and it is looking better every hour. Gypsy, Kate, Kim and I worked there today and Kris and Gypsy are going to pull a late shift to Christmas it up. Kris was in Buffalo at Second Hand Rose today and said that it was a very good sale. We are hoping that the shopping excitement moves north to Sauk Rapids next weekend.

Kate and Kim took on the "other" room.

This set up had changed before I left a couple of hours later.

I asked Kate and Kim to give me a "Price is Right" pose.
They are modeling the new hats.

New group of wool hats hand made from old sweater material by one of our new dealers.

I'll try to get more photos before the sale starts.
