Chickens on the Tree Skirt

Below are photos of a hood from a vintage chicken brooder. The kerosene stove was in the middle and the hood sat around it down to about 2 inches above the ground. It retained the heat and kept out the rain so that the chicks could stay warm and dry. Chicken figures and Makomb are embossed into the panels. Makomb is the name of the manufacturer.

I cleaned the hood and then painted it with a nice red Rustoleum spray paint. It is going to be used as a Christmas tree skirt in the shop for our November sale.

I am cleaning up and rewiring this vintage cast iron Christmas tree stand. I think that it will look great inside the tree skirt (maybe on a small stand to get just the right elevation).

Chickens on a tree skirt make perfect sense to me...does that make me a redneck? HA! And the tree stand? YUM!!!

If you have 4 more of my new man I really am coming to raid your house. heehee It's love I tell you! I very lightly sanded the wood down last night and cleaned it up - I'm going to take your suggestion on the chrome cleaner and work some more magic tonight! No broken heart for him, I promise!!! ;-)

Have a good one!
